Willard Earnest Hamby, Jr.

Willard Earnest Hamby, Jr., 78, of Locust Grove Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at his home.

Born on May 27, 1944 in Hampton, VA, he was a son of the late Willard Earnest Hamby, Sr. and Dorothy Hamby. He was a retired salesman for the Nolan Company. And was a member of the Dryfork Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Hamby and a sister, Patsy Gaddis.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Bowles Hamby of the home; 2 daughters, Amy Shrader of Princeton, WV and Melanie Gearheart of Princeton; 4 grandchildren, Kelsey Hamby, Tyler Gearheart, Andrew Shrader and Hannah Shrader; and a sister, Nancy Fletcher of SC.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Paul Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with friends and family serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be performed by Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation will be at on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, one hour prior to services, from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home
