Listen to Obituary

Wiley McKinney Jr. "Mac", 90, of Zolfo Springs, Florida, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, October30, 2026. Born in Egeria, West Virginia, to Wiley L. McKinney Sr. and Violet Christine Green McKinney. At 17, Mac enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served his country for over 20 years. He was a CTRC (Cryptologic Technician) and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. His service took him to Guam, the Philippines, Japan, and California. After the Navy he moved back to West Virginia to his farm in Spanishburg. He joined the United States Postal Service, working first as a letter carrier and later as a clerk, until his retirement. Mac loved his family and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He enjoyed square dancing and got a thrill out of spinning Gayla around the dance floor. He was a gifted golfer and fisherman, and he was very good at both. He had a kind heart and a mischievous grin, and when the whole family gathered, he was affectionately known as Chief. One of his greatest joys were his grandchildren. He would often stop by to see them to get what he called “sugar stops”. He is survived by his wife, Gayla McKinney; brother Chester McKinney (Deborah); his children, Margaret Caldwell (Duane), Kathleen Degitz (Andrew), Michael McKinney (Deborah); his grandchildren, Monica Crandall (Joshua), Paige Caldwell (Sam), Melanie Caldwell (Hunter), Kyle McKinney (Julie), and Benjamin McKinney. Great grandchildren Trey and Rowyn Crandall. Stepchildren Raymond Hayes (Tammy), Tony Hayes (Annew), Jennie Boggs, Tammy Pons and Kyle Flinchum (Carey).

He was preceded in death by his first love and wife, Rosemary Monica Loyack McKinney; his parents; his brothers, Jack McKinney, Eldee McKinney, Billy Ray McKinney, James “Mac” McKinney, Weldon McKinney and his sisters, Jean McKinney Lavigne and Betty McKinney Green.
