Wanda Faye Shrader Sherman, who passed peacefully from this world on August 2, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on December 8, 1948, Wanda was the embodiment of warmth, resilience, and devotion to family.
Preceded in death by her father George and mother Ruth Murray; her son William Michael Sampson; and her first husband Sherman Shrader she carried their memories with her throughout the rest of her life.
Wanda’s greatest joy was found within the loving circle of her family. She leaves behind her devoted husband, William Sherman, who stood by her side throughout life’s blessings and challenges. Her legacy endures in her children: Allan Sampson and wife Rebecca of Martinsville, VA, Kimberly Christian of Bluefield, WV, and Jessica Dick of Falls Mills, VA, each of whom carries forward her compassion and strength in their own journeys. Her memory is also a source of comfort to her beloved siblings—brothers Junior, Daniel, Michael, and Gary Murray, and Kenneth Murray; and sisters Linda Osborne, Dorothy Burnette, and Theresa Gilbert. Wanda had a special bond with her brother-in-law, Sammy Shrader and wife Sally, among those who cherished her laughter and wisdom.
Wanda distinguished herself with steadfast determination and a keen mind. She was a proud graduate of Bluefield High School, and her commitment to personal growth led her to complete her studies at National Business College. Professionally, Wanda invested many devoted years as an accountant, retiring from Nash Finch. Her meticulous attention to detail and genuine care for colleagues left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working alongside her. She was beloved both for her work ethic and her generosity of spirit. Wanda was a devoted member of the Church of God in Falls Mills, VA for many faithful years.
