Vivian Frances (Whittaker) Burks, 94 of Maitland, WV Vivian passed away peacefully Thursday July 10 2025 at her home with her daughter Dreama and her caregiver Dina Bryson by her side.
Born on September 11, 1930, in Kimball, she was the daughter of the late William Arlo Whittaker and Vadie Mullins Whittaker. She was a homemaker, Deaconess of Little Vine Baptist Church of Superior, and an accomplished artist with her paintings hanging in many of her family's home where they are cherished
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by Her husband Alfred Conway (A,C) Burks, Daughters Shelia Marie Burks & Barbara Darlene Burks. One Grandson Emmett Alfred (Cotton) Hall. Sister-Connie Burks, Brother - Robert Whittaker.
Survivors include three Children- Dreama Burks, Alfred Ray (Mary)Burks, David (Belinda) Burks; Brothers- William (Willa) Whittaker. of Bluewell, Tom (Julia) Whittaker of Princeton, Jack (Lynn) Whittaker of Princeton., Richard Whittaker of Carswell; Sisters- Wilma (Victor )England of Union, Carolyn (Lionel) Shirley, of laegar, Loretta Shirley of Williamsburg WV, Linda (Bill) Sellers of Princeton, Betty Willis of Green Valley and Barbara (Billy) Deskins of Lashmeet; Grandchildren- Lisa Short, Amanda (Jay) Johnson, Mickey Burks, Jennifer Bristoll, Amy Rasnick, Heather Burks, Sissy Porterfield, and Miranda Green; Great-Grandchildren: Cody (Shelley) Hall, Emily Johnson, Colton Short, Jaycob Johnson, Thomas Kelley, Sabrina Scrotsky, Brittany Burks, Justin Dove, Brandon Vaughn, Matthew Burks, Ellie Pegram, Emma Rasnick; Great-Great Grandchildren- Kennedy, Cooper, Braelynn, Brooklyn, Joseph and Madalyn; a host of nieces & Nephews that held a special place in her heart; and a very Special Caregiver, Dina Bryson,
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 2:00 PM with Elder Dennis Burks officiating. Burial will follow at the Elkhorn Church Cemetery on Belcher Mountain in Welch with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call prior to services on Monday, from 1:00-2:00, at the funeral home.
