Virginia Lowanda Lawrence

Virginia (Jennie) Lowanda Lawrence, 75, of Athens, WV passed away on October 26, 2026, from injuries sustained in an auto accident. She was born to James Hubert and Emma Mae Workman. 

Jennie loved cooking dinners for her loved ones. While her kids were growing up, she always made sure that then had fresh, homemade meals. Their friends enjoyed her meals as well. She was a quiet woman, that had gone through a lot but always made a way. She stood on what she believed in and for her kids/grandkids. Jennie loved watching westerns and Days of our Lives. She helped with her grandkids whenever asked, without hesitation. She loved her four babies and grandbabies with all of her heart and will be missed by all of them. 

She was predeceased by her parents, siblings: James Jr., Juanita, Joann, Nadine, Florence, and James. Son: Hubert Workman. Granddaughter: Emily Hamilton and Nephew Lacy Mullins III. 

She is survived by her sons: Robert Lawrence of Glenwood, WV. Jimmy Lawrence of Athens, WV and her only daughter, Emma Kiser of Princeton, WV. Grandchildren: Austin, Ciara, Destinee, her namesake Selena Lowanda, Brandon, Bryce, Jonathan, Bryleigh and several great grandchildren. She also left behind her Sissy, Naoma (May) Mitchem and many nieces and nephews that she loved very dearly.

Pallbearers: Robert Lawrence, Jimmy Lawrence, Austin Lockhart, David Mullins, David Wright Jr., and Cody Fleming. Pastor: Dallas Peyton. Services will be held on Thursday October 29th, 2026 at 2:00PM with a visitation from 1:00PM to 2:00PM before the service. A burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Special thanks to everyone at Compassus and Princeton Health Care Center for the care that they game to Jennie during her final weeks.
