Tina Marie Cook

September 30, 1971 — January 24, 2024

Tina Marie Cook (Kennedy) went to be with the Lord, January 24th, 2024, after an extended illness. She was born in Bluefield, WV on September 30th, 1971. She was a graduate of Montcalm High School. After which, she attended Bluefield State College. Her home church was Pine Grove Church of Christ and her faith extended wherever she was.

Beginning in 2003, she served as a Family Assistance Specialist for the West Virginia Army National Guard until her health prevented her from continuing this mission. During this time, she selflessly helped countless service men and women of all branches of the military and their families, regardless of time of day, location, or obstacle. She was never more than a phone call away from anyone that needed help and would move mountains to help those that needed her. She will always be known in the community for the tissue box and giant bowl of candy on her desk and was always available for those that required either one, or sometimes both. She was able to understand the issues of service members and their families through her experiences as an Army wife and eventually, an Army mom. These experiences were tallied by supporting her husband, Jesse, and son, Tyler, through a combined 38 years of service and 4 combined deployments.

She took incredible pride in being a mother to her son and was always his biggest fan. She was always there for advice; always in the stands at a game; and always there when mistakes were made. While only having one biological child, throughout her life she touched the lives of so many that will continue to count her as their ‘Mom’, too. Rest assured that she was never afraid to set them straight, as if they were her own. She kept a judgement-free environment but would not shelter anyone from what needed to be said. She was always honest and upfront with everyone about her opinions and would always follow that honesty with a “bless your heart.” She always cared about everyone with everything she had.

She will also be remembered for how much she loved snow. She had the reputation of shaking her snow globe to get it to snow, despite people asking her not to.

She was preceded in death by her father, Freddie Kennedy; mother, Patricia Kennedy; brother Edward Kennedy; grandfather, Eldrige Bailey; grandmother, Eileen Bailey.

She is survived by her husband, Jesse Cook of Beckley, WV; son Tyler Cook and his wife, Kristen Cook of Morgantown, WV; son Allen White and wife Rachel White; brother, Freddie Kennedy of Bluewell, WV; sister, Reva Kelly, and husband, Thomas Kelly of Green Valley, WV; Their daughters, Candase Eaton and husband Donald Eaton of Indianapolis, IN, Heather Kelly of Wytheville, VA, & Alison Kelly of Princeton, WV; sister Lynn Winkle and husband James Winkle, son Nicholas Winkle of Greenfield, IN & daughter Ashley Price of Slocomb, AL; brother William Kennedy of Bluefield, WV and daughters Amber Alvarez of Lashmeet, WV & Mckenzie Helmondollar of Bluefield, WV; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
