Shirley Argene Miller, of 2867 Rock Road, Rock, West Virginia, passed away on September 13, 2026, at Bluestone Health and Rehab, three days after her 79th birthday.
Born on September 10, 1947, in Rock, West Virginia, she lived a life centered on faith, work, and the people she loved most and was a resident of Mercer County all her life.
She is survived by her son, Doug Miller and special friend Leah Knight of Rock, WV, and by her daughter Sabrina Ellis and Billy of Winston-Salem, NC. She is also survived by her brother Billy Ratcliff of MD and sisters, Bernice Lucado and Buck of Bluefield, WV, and Regina Pennington of Abbs Valley, VA. She is also survived by 5 of her grandchildren; Aaron Miller and Kristen of Rock, WV, Stephen Miller and Michael of Charleston, SC, Ashton Nunn and Kenneth of Rock, WV, Brandon Lively of Rock, WV, and Caitlyn Ellis of Winston Salem; as well as 4 great-grandchildren. All of them shared in her life and in the love she gave so freely.
She was preceded in death by her father Norman Ratcliff and mother Joyce Pickett Ratcliff, and by her brothers David Ratcliff, David Havens, Craig Havens, Bernie Ratcliff as well as her sister Judy Norris, her grandson Cody Ellis, her long-term partner James Tiller, and daughter-in-law Kimberly Miller.
Shirley graduated from Montcalm High School and worked as a waitress for many years. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church, and her faith was an important part of her life. Above all, Shirley loved her family, and that love remained at the heart of who she was.
Family and friends will be received for visitation on September 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes, 3431 Coal Heritage Road, Bluefield, WV.
A funeral service will follow there at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Eddie Mabe. An internment will follow after the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Bluewell, WV after the service with family serving as pallbearers.
Shirley will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her faith, and the simple, caring way she lived her life. Her memory will remain close to all who knew and loved her.
