Shirley Carol Farmer, 86, of Bluefield, WV, passed Friday, April 26, 2024, at Commonwealth Senior Living in Claypool Hill, VA.
Born January 21, 1938, in Squire, WV, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Myrtle Altizer Harrison. Shirley had been a resident of Bluefield, WV since 2010. She was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church. She was a retired supervisor for McDowell County Head Start.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her late husband, Raymond Farmer; daughter, Carol Elaine Quesenberry; sisters, Mary Joe Witten and Jeanita Little; and brother-in-law, Bob Stroupe; brother-in-law Harry Roberts; and brother-in-law Jimmy Dean Witten
Those left to cherish Shirley’s memory are her husband, Claybourne L. Phillips of Bluefield, WV; son, Ray Farmer, Jr and wife Sarah of Smyrna, GA, and Richard Farmer and wife Kimberly of Ponta Vedra, FL; brothers, Roger Harrison and Jim Harrison and wife Peggy, all of Lerona, WV; sisters, Sue Stroupe of Rocky Gap, VA, and Norma Roberts of Charleston, WV; son-in-law, Terry Quesenberry of Princeton, WV; brother-in-law Eddie Little of Fincastle, Va; grandchildren, Leah Farmer and husband Drew Jansky of Atlanta, GA; and great grandchild, Felix Jansky; and Joshua Farmer of Bluefield, VA and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held, Monday, May 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, WV, with Rev. Claybourne Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
A visitation will be held, Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the Farmer family.
