Shirley Ann Brooks

Shirley Ann Wright Brinkley Brooks, 87, of Bluefield, WV passed away Friday, June 30, 2023 at WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital. Shirley spent the last 15 months at Glenwood Nursing Home. Born July 16, 1935 in Tazewell, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Willard and Oma Kiser Wright. Shirley attended Deliverance Temple Church and was the former owner of Johnny’s Used Furniture. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Brooks; daughter, Debbie Brinkley; sons, Johnny and Richard Brinkley; step-son, Larry Brooks; and brothers, Willie Wright, Bobby Jo Wright and Donnie Wright.

Those left to cherish Shirley’s memory are her daughters, Lisa Young of Princeton, WV and her husband, Jeff Young, Pam Farley of Falls Mills, VA and her husband, Jimmy Farley, and Merita Moore of PA; step-son, Chip Brooks and wife, Sharon Brooks of Montcalm, WV; step-daughter, Susan Barnwell and husband, Jerry of FL; daughter-in-laws, Shirley Brinkley and Sandra Brinkley; sister-in-law, Brenda Wright of FL; a host of grandkids and great grandkids also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Craig Hammond officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens where grandsons will serve at pallbearers.

Friends may call prior to services, from 10:00-11:00 AM on Thursday.
