Shirley Ayers

Rock-Shirley Ayers, 83, of Rock, WV, passed away Sunday August 1, 2021 at her home. Born March 23, 1938 in Belle, WV, she was a daughter of the late James P. and Earnestine Bostic Gilmore. Ms. Ayers was a loving mother and a very avid supporter of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and The Moose Lodge. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; Zadok H. Ayers and son; James Houghtaling. Survivors include a son; Percy Lee Ayers of Cape Coral, FL daughters; Debbie McCrindle of Rock, Holly Houghtaling of Coty, WY, Ellen De Loach of Orlando, FL, brothers; William Gilmore of Tampa, FL, James Gilmore, Fort Myers, FL. A sister, Mary Darby of La Belle, FL, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and three great-greatgrandchildren. In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated, and memorial services will be conducted at a later date. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home of Bluewell is assisting the Ayers family with arrangements.
