Shirley Jean Anderson

Shirley Jean Dawson Anderson, 78, of Abbs Valley, VA passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 at her home. Born December 13, 1942 in Big Vein, VA, she was a daughter of the late Christopher and Rosa Mae Atwell Dawson. Shirley had been a resident of Abbs Valley since 1978. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Donnie Monroe Anderson, Sr; two daughters, Rhonda Edwards and Lisa Marrs Hale; son-in-law, Estell Edwards; three sisters, Mary Mullins, Ruby Mathena, and Wanda Parton; and one grandson, Estell Edwards, Jr.

Those left to cherish Shirley’s memory are her son, Donnie Anderson, Jr. and wife, Judy of Falls Mills, VA; brothers, Buford and wife Jackie Dawson of Yards, VA and Alvin and wife Kathy Dawson of Tazewell, VA; sister, Hazel Whitehead of Roanoke, VA; special caregiver, Tina Christian; five grandchildren, Daniel Marrs, Amber Creasy, Adam Edwards and wife, Isabella Edwards, Arissa Anderson, and Troy Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Logan, Alex, and Andrew Creasy.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Rev. Carlos Hess officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park where Donnie Anderson, Jr., Troy Anderson, Adam Edwards, Logan Creasy, Andrew Creasy, Alex Creasy will serve as pallbearers.
