Shirley Marie Akers

Shirley Marie Akers, 82, of Bluefield, WV passed away on Saturday June 4, 2022 at Princeton Community Hospital.

Born on November 19, 1939 in McComas, WV she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Myrtle Jones Davis. She had been a lifelong resident of Bluefield and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Lee Davis, Everett Davis, and John Davis; and sisters, Cora Ann Larie, O’dessa Martin, and Vernie Brock.

Survivors include her husband Franklin “Gene” Akers of the home; daughters, Debby Wyrick and husband James of Hurricane, WV, Pamela Slaughter and husband Jimmy of Glenwood, WV, and Kristi Mills and husband Keith of Bluefield, WV; sister Ila Garrett of Princeton, WV; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Michael Davis and Rev. Jeff Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, WV with Franklin Pendergrass, Daniel Pendergrass, Timothy Wyrick, Andrew Wyrick, Gage Harris, and Wesley Garrett serving as pallbearers.
