Shelia Clyburn left this world to reside on high with the lord on January 9, 2026 at the Bowers House in Beckley, WV. A long-time homemaker and a light in any room she was in, Shelia enjoyed a long life of 62 years here in this world with her family, friends and loved ones. She faced many challenges in life, including but not limited to the loss of two children: Kenneth Allan Clyburn and Stephen Ray Clyburn, a painful divorce and sudden loss of her ex-spouse: Fred Clyburn, a bout of debilitation from Guillain-Barre Syndrome, and a late-stage cancer diagnosis. In these challenges, she came out on top of each one still fighting and still ready for the next one, and now that the time has come, she is finally taking the much-needed rest that she has absolutely earned. We celebrate her life with her remaining family: son Nicholas A. Clyburn of Bluefield, WV; daughter Alyssa L. Clyburn and her boyfriend Derek Salyers of Princeton, WV; brother Scott and sister-in-law Nancy Hamilton of Shady Spring, WV; niece Ashley and Josiah Chitwood of Beckley, WV; nephews Daniel, Jonathan and niece Morgan Hamilton of Beckley, WV; cousins Stephanie and Pete Hamblin of Bluefield, WV; cousin Lindsey Hamblin-Thompson and Derrek Thompson; cousin Joshua Hamlin and partner Hannah Matherly; cousin Chris and Ella Hamilton of Princeton, WV; cousin Robin and Brandon Browning of Princeton, WV; cousin Emily Hamilton of Princeton, WV; cousin Bobby Martin; aunt Rebecca Lewis of Elkin, NC; aunt Amanda Hamilton of Bluefield, WV; mother-in-law Jean Nelson of Romney, WV and the collective of cousins' children, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and grandchildren otherwise unnamed that survive her.
A lover of capturing moments as memories that she could hold onto forever, "shutterbug" Shelia loved photography and capturing moments in her life that left the biggest impressions on her. Pets, people, especially her children, all captured in moments that she held on to for many years to come.
She was an avid music fan as well, listening to many of the classic groups that she shared a love for with her late ex-husband. Throughout their house built on love, the sounds of Journey, AC/DC, Def Leppard and Elton John would ring against each wall and down every corridor. Shelia would sing along while doing the daily routines of sending her kids off to school, washing the dishes, doing the laundry and so much more.
Shelia is preceded in death by her two sons: Kenneth Allan Clyburn and Stephen Ray Clyburn, her ex-spouse: Fred Ray Clyburn, her parents: Billy Scott Hamilton and Evelyn Hamilton, a granddaughter: Lydia Marie Chambers, uncles: Randall "Hambone" Hamilton, Randall Dawson, Jeff Lewis and Wylie Hamilton, aunts: Donna Hamilton, Laura Martin, Patti Dawson and Belinda Hamilton, cousins: LeAnna Lewis-Mcmillan and husband Tom McMillan, Regina Hutchins, Grandparents: Elva G. and Edgar W. Hamilton, Nettie and Bob Dawson, and father-in-law: Fred Nelson.
Services for Shelia will be held at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home at 3431 Coal Heritage Rd, Bluefield, WV 24701. Visitation for family will begin at 9:30 A.M., and we welcome friends to come in beginning at 10:00 A.M. with services beginning at 11:00 A.M.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers that friends and family would instead make a donation in her name to the Cancer Foundation of Princeton Community Hospital; a self-funded organization that assists other cancer patients and their families with travel, meal and lodging costs associated with cancer treatment.
While she will be dearly missed by all, she will never be forgotten for her triumphs in this life.
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."―Isaiah 41:10
