Sharon Lea Farley

March 6, 1962 — January 16, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon Lea (Crisco) Farley, 60, of Bluefield, WV, on January 16, 2023.  She was a bright spark in this world and will be deeply missed by many.

Born on March 6, 1962 in Bluefield, WV, Sharon was the daughter of Andrew Wayne and Betty Jean (Woodyard) Crisco. She was the youngest of 6 children, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Sharon was a 1980 graduate of Bluefield High School and attended Bluefield State College. In 1999, she earned her Medical Transcriptionist Certificate from MCTech. Prior to her illness in 2020, Sharon worked at Princeton Community Hospital, where her colleagues quickly became her work family.

Sharon had a larger than life personality that shined brighter than the sun. She never met a stranger and would not hesitate to help anyone that needed it. Sharon was an active member of a 12 Step Fellowship, where she learned a new way of life. She dedicated her life to helping countless others through the power of the best hugs in the entire world.

Sharon loved all animals. She was most happy when she had a house full of rescued fur-babies, especially those with only 1 eye. She had a passion for bird watching, especially eagles, where she found lifelong friends in the Eaglet Momsters. “We came for the eagles, but we stayed for the friendships.”

She is survived by her son, Andrew, with wife Kelsey and Sharon’s precious granddog Roary, of Winfield, WV, who she absolutely loved going to visit as much as possible. She is also survived by her sister Beverly (Tom) Riffe of Bluefield, WV; brother, Randall (Jeannie) Crisco of Princeton, WV; sister-in-law, Thelma of Bluefield, WV; beloved niece, Becky Kessler of Bluefield, WV; beloved great-niece, Mattie (Thomas) Kessler with their daughter, Calliope, of Beckley, WV; beloved great-nephew, Justin (Christina) Kessler with their son, Christopher, of Bluefield, WV; nephew, Randall Crisco Jr. with children Kayla and Katie; niece, Wendy (Jeff) Bower with children Levi and Allison; nephew Ronald (Tammy) Crisco Jr. with children Jeremy and Devyn; and nephew, Joe Crisco.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jim Farley; parents, Andrew and Betty (Woodyard) Crisco; sister, Donna “Doa Doa” Cox (survived by Thelma); brother, Donald “Duck” Crisco (survived by Carmen); brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Crisco (survived by Kete); nephews, Adam and Aaron Riffe.

A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held on Saturday January 21, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church of Bluefield at 2:00pm.  Sharon requested that everyone wear tie-dye, or bright colors, and bring a memory or two to share. We will have food and fellowship as we celebrate the beautiful life that Sharon shared with us.  If you would like to send flowers, you can have them sent to 1832 Franklin Street Bluefield, WV 24701 so that the family can ensure they are a part of the celebration.
