Samuel Wayne Warren

Samuel Wayne Warren, 71, of Max Meadows, VA, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Wytheville Community Hospital.

He was born in McDowell County, WV, to the late William and Effie Mae Warren. Sam was a coal miner for 12 years before moving to Culpepper, VA where he retired from APAC Asphalt and Paving as a grader operator. He attended Max Meadows Pentecostal Holiness Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Scotty Warren, step-father who raised him, Earnest Vider; brother, Lucky Warren; sister, Linda Warren, and a Niece Cassandra “Candi Jo” Greer.

Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Agnes Winebarger Warren of the home; sons, Mark (Dolly) Warren of Max Meadows, VA, Michael (Kelly) of Skygusty; grandchildren, Daykota Warren of the home, Terry “TW” (Faithe) Warren of Galax, VA, Karli Denton and husband, Douglas of Princeton, Kristin (Donovan) Poore of Pageton, WV; great grandchildren, Adalyn, Averi, and Bentley Denton of Princeton; Nevaeh Poore of Pageton and Chloe Hayes of Galax; sister Wanda Goodman of Hudson, NC, several nieces and nephews and the Winebarger family.

In keeping with Sam’s wishes, he will be cremated, and memorial services will be conducted on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Mary Lambert officiating. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to wear masks. Friends may call prior to services, from 1:00-2:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
