Ruth Ann Hawkins, 79, passed away at the home of her daughter on the morning of Thursday, May 12th, 2022.
A talented quilter and proud child of God, Ruth’s life was a bold and loving patchwork of family, friends, and faith as colorful and distinct as any of her creations. Born on January 19, 1943, in the rolling hills of McDowell County, West Virginia, she maintained deep connections to those mountains, deciding many years ago no matter where she roamed, her Earthly remains would be committed to that rocky soil.
Ruth will be remembered as a kind and modest soul, always concerned about others and never hesitating to give and share what she had. She loved hunting thrift stores and yard sales for treasures and relished the opportunity to surprise loved ones with a thoughtfully curated gift.
While she leaves behind adoring family and friends, those close to her know there is currently a joyous Heavenly reunion taking place with her beloved sons Brian and Robert Culberson, predeceased.
Ruth leaves behind a sister, Barbara Sizemore and her husband Ed (predeceased) of Bluefield, WV; daughters Kim VanDenMeiracker and her husband Rudy of Campobello, SC and Angie Valentine and her husband Nathan of Gray Court, SC; nieces Joan Harsanyi and her husband John of Princeton, WV, Sandy Counts and her husband Rick, of Princeton, WV and Julia Peery and her husband Jesse of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Chris VanDenMeiracker and his wife Lindsey of Jericho, VT, Tamara Pack and her husband RJ of Campobello, SC, Crystal Meyer and her husband Steven of Greenville, SC, Reianna (Anna) Adams and David of Greer, SC, Micaela Swearingin and Carter of Liberty, SC, and Savannah Cox of Gray Court, SC; 11 great-grandchildren, which she loved dearly; and many other beloved family members including nieces and nephews.
On that resurrection morning
When all dead in Christ Shall Rise
I’ll have a new body
Praise the Lord, I’ll have a new life
Won’t it be so bright and fair
When we meet our loved ones there?
I’ll have a new body
Praise the Lord, I’ll have a new life
