Roxie Kelly

Roxie Burks Kelly, 90, of Pageton, WV, passed away on August 17, 2022 at Welch Community Hospital.

Born on March 19, 1932 in Carswell Hollow, she was a daughter of the late John R. and Liza Mitchem Burks. She was a longtime member of the Thorpe United Methodist Church, was a homemaker and was talented in sewing, quilting, cooking, gardening and woodworking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three husbands, Claude Thomas Johnson, Walter Kelly, and Rudy Kelly; 6 sisters, Phoebe Church, Dorothy Mitchem, Daisy Mitchem, Cecila Anis Rotenberry, Vernie Edmondson, and Jane Webb; and 2 brothers, Felix Burks and Daniel Burks.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Fields of Pageton, WV; a son, Thomas Johnson of Gordonsville, TN; a granddaughter, Ronetta Scarboro of Surveyor, WV, a grandson, Billy Fields, II, of Pageton; 2 great grandchildren, Rayna Shoenfelt and Mason Jones.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Brad Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where members of the Anawalt and Gary Fire Departments will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call prior to services on Tuesday, from 10:00-11:00, at the funeral home.
