Roger Lee Martin

Roger Lee Martin of Coalwood/Welch, WV, born on January 1, 1949, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026. He was a devoted husband to Anita June Blankenship Martin. Roger was a proud father to Matthew Martin and wife Leanne and Patrick Martin and girlfriend Billi Jo Coleman. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Bret Martin, Jaxson Martin, Alston Gilbert, Kaylee Muncy, and Payton Martin.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Clain Martin and Myrtle Martin, his brother, Clinton Martin, and his sister, Betty Cook. As well as his son Adam Martin.

Throughout his life, Roger exemplified service and commitment. He served honorably in the Navy for 4 years. Following his military service, Roger worked for Norfolk-Southern and retired after over 33 years. His career was marked by diligence, respect for his colleagues, and pride in his work. He attended the Church of God.

Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Roger’s life on July 2, 2026. Visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes, located at 3431 Coal Heritage Rd, Bluefield, WV 24701. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the same location officiated by Pastor Ralph Brewster and Rev. Rita Dunford. All who knew Roger and wish to pay their respects are invited to attend these services. After the service Roger will be buried Woodlawn Memorial Park where Military Graveside Rites will be performed by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Family and friends will serve as Pall Bearers.

Roger Lee Martin’s life was filled with love, integrity, and quiet strength. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the Martin family.
