Roger Lee Breeden, 83, of Stoneville, NC, formerly of Bluefield, WV, entered into eternal rest on February 25, 2026, surrounded by family. Roger was born March 9, 1942, in Eggleston, VA and was the son of the late Wayne and Lillian Breeden of Eggleston, VA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy (Pennington) Breeden; his brothers, Homer Breeden and Richard Breeden of Pearisburg, VA, Butch Breeden of Texas, and his sister, Mary (Breeden) Long of Roanoke, VA, and 1 granddaughter, Jessica Stephens.
Roger was a retired mechanic for the coal mining industry. He was also a diesel mechanic in the United States Army. His retirement was spent caring for his mother Lillian Breeden and spending time playing golf at Elks Lodge in Princeton, WV.
Survivors include his 3 children, Donnie and wife, Loria Breeden of Bluefield, WV, Dreama and husband, Tommy of Stoneville, NC, and Ellis and wife, Latisha Breeden of Hilliard, OH; and his brother, Bill Breeden of Kansas; grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Joyce, Dollie (Steven) Trant, Zach (Olivia) Ducan, Jon Mikel Breeden, Haley Breeden, Hannah Breeden, Justin (Hunter) Breeden, Stephanie Stephson, Justin (Brooke) Koen, and Shannon (Richard) Smith; great-grandchildren, Aerial Smith, Alayna White, Hunter Joyce, Blake and Luke Trant, Zeke Ducan, Gabriella Sexton, Bryan Giberson, Sarah and Gavyn Koen, and Levi and Avah Koen.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hagan Pace and Ancora Compassion Care for the exceptional love, comfort, and care Roger received in his final days. Roger will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for his family and the many cherished memories he leaves behind. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who know and loved him.
Funeral service will be conducted 12:00 PM Monday, March 2, 2026 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with speaker Ellis Breeden. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park with the Mercer County Veteran's Honor Guard conducting graveside rights and where friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at the Funeral Home.
