Robert Ray Rose, 71, of McDowell County, WV passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital.
Born on January 16, 1953, in Welch, WV, he was a son of the late Elbert and Ethel Rose. He was a retired coal miner with over 38 years of experience. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by brothers, Lawrence, London, James, and Lonnie Rose, and two infant brothers; sisters, Brenda East and Deborah Watkins; and mother and father in law, Opal and Perry Sizemore.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Glena Rose of McDowell County; daughters, Tammy McNew and husband Rob of Davy, WV, and Tanya Rose of the home; granddaughters, Gabriella McNew and significant other Walker Reed Jr. of TN, and Kaylee Rose and significant other Matthew Lane of McDowell county; two great grandchildren due in May and August; sisters, Rosia Hurt and husband Lennie of NC, Martha Mullins and companion Dave of VA, and Shirly Eachus and husband Tim of Princeton, WV; brothers, Jerry Rose and Oley Rose of Bluefield, WV; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thanks to the staff of WVU Medicine PCH 4 East for all their wonderful care.
Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 10:30 AM, at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Debbie Cyphers and Rev. Paul Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV, with Matthew Lane, Rob McNew, Jason Tabor, Matthew Watkins, David Watkins, and Hal Lafferty serving as pallbearers.
A visitation will be held, from 9:30 AM until the time of services, at the funeral home.
Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the Rose family.
