Robert Joseph Mitchelson

Robert “Joe” Mitchelson, 67, of Bluefield, WV passed away Friday, August 16, 2024 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born January 4, 1957 in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of the late Howard B. and Doris Sluss Mitchelson. Joe was retired from the Mercer County Board of Education and was a member of Deliverance Temple Church. Joe had a loving smile that will always be remembered. 

Those left to cherish Joe’s memory are his wife of 35 years, Mary Ombler Mitchelson of the home; son, Bobby Mitchelson of Roanoke, VA; daughters, Latisha Brett, Cindy Newman, and Vicky Landry, all of Tazewell, VA; brother, Lee Mitchelson (Rhonda) of Princeton, WV; sister, Libby Mitchelson Pridemore (James) of Wytheville, VA; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and his special little love who imitated his every move, Mariah Kate Ombler.

A memorial service will be conducted 6:00 PM Friday, August 23, 2024 at Deliverance Temple Church with Pastor David Kirby officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until the time of service at the church. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the Mitchelson family.
