The family of Robert Lee Little Sr. are heartbroken to announce his passing on June 16, 2026 at the age of 76 years of age. Robert died after a hard-fought battle with an unexpected illness.

Born in Anawalt, WV on September 16, 1949 to his parents Olie and Gladys Elmore Little. Although Robert sadly lost his father during his teenage years, he was blessed to have Mr. Douglas Holloman become his stepfather and a needed father figure throughout the majorty of Robert's life.

Robert was the youngest of four children in a very close-knit family. He and his siblings always remained close throughout thier adult lives.

Robert spoke often and proudly of the time he served the country he cherished from 1972-1979. Robert was honorably discharged from the United States Army after earning the rank of Specialist 5.

Robert was always known for his deep love and protection of his three children, Robert L. Little, Jr. married to Tanya Little of Greenville, NC, Michael A Little married to Carrie Little of Lincolnton, NC and Miranda Little with Brian Hunley of Jenkinjones, WV. This Love and protection extended to his grandchildren Justin L. Little, Tyler S Little, Summer N Little, Breanna Harman, Shelby S. Little, Josie L Hunley and his great granddaughter Autumn Little.

Robert lived a life of sacrifice and support not only for his country but also to his community. He served the City of Gary for 52 years in multiple roles roles including as elected mayor until the time of his death. Robert also Served the Gary Volunteer Fire Department for over 8 years, including serving as the Fire Chief.

Robert is best remembered as a man that loved to cook for his family, supporting & celebrating the WVU Mountaineers and enjoying any opportunity for a round of golf.

Robert was honored to be known as an "adopted" dad, grandfather and brother to so many of those he loved throughout his life.

Robert was proceeded in death by his parents, his step-father, his son, Michael, and his siblings, Everette Little of Jenkinjones, WV, Lewis Little of Bethlehem, NC and Peggy Farley of Bethlehem, NC.

The family would Like to extend a note of special appreciation to Rosie Little (sister-in-law) Of Bethlehem, NC and Traci Allison of Gary, WV for all the support, assistance and guidance during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday June 20, 2026 at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Friends may call prior to the services on Saturday from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
