Richard Dean King, a devoted husband, father, and brother, passed peacefully in Bluefield, West Virginia, on July 8, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on September 23, 1961, in Bluefield, Richard dedicated much of his professional life to serving others as a Case Worker Supervisor for the state of West Virginia, where he was known for his commitment to the community.
Richard attended the Church of God, where he found strength and support in his faith. He was a cherished member of his congregation and lived his life guided by the values he held dear.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Perdue King, and five children: David King, Michael King, Tabatha Looney, Stacey Chandler, and Matthew Perdue. Richard was very close to his grandkids, Christina Ellis, Zachary Byrd, Seth Byrd, Vanessa Looney, Kathleen Looney, and Chad King; and his 3 great-grandchildren Kamden Ellis, Maleigha Ellis, and Noah Ellis. He is also mourned by his brothers, Jessie King and Dean King, who remember him fondly for his kindness and dedication to family.
Richard will be dearly missed by his family and the community he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell King and Judy King, who laid the foundation for the values he carried throughout his life.
As we remember Richard Dean King, we celebrate a life of service and love, a life that impacted many and will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Visitation for Richard will be held on July 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes, located at 3431 Coal Heritage Rd, Bluefield, WV 24701. This will be followed by a funeral service that will take place at the same location at 11:00 AM officiated by Rev. Danny Scott. Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com.
