Richard L. Hayes

Richard L. Hayes 44, of Bluefield, WV was called home on June 20 ,2022 after a brief illness.

He was a loving and devoted father, husband, son, brother and best friend. He had the kindest heart and never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved spending time with friends and family. He was an avid lover of WVU football and basketball as well as Bluefied Beaver football. He graduated from Bluefield High School and has been a lifelong resident of Bluefield and was employed at Bluefield Sanitary Board for the last 25 years as a maintenance supervisor.

He is preceded in death by grandparents, Steve and Edna Tessa and Richard and Betty Hayes. Survivors include devoted and loving wife Drenda Hayes; sons Austin and Ashton Hayes both of the home; parents, Drema Tessa of Bluewell, WV and Ricky Hayes and his wife Vickie of Bluefield, WV; brother, Scott Hayes of Sevierville,TN; nieces, Brooklyn, Macey, and Makenna; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, June 24, 2022 at Deliverance Temple Church in Brushfork, WV with Pastor David Kirby officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens with Billy Wimmer, Shane Watkins, Larry Gilmore, Chris Tibbs, Dalton Egnor, and Colton Egnor serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are David Tessa and Jack Parks. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the church.
