Raymond Hassel Dinger

On Wednesday, August 4, 2021, Raymond Hassel Dinger was carried into the arms of Jesus by the heavenly angels at 2:55 PM at his home in Bluefield, WV with his loving wife of 73 years, Sarah, and his loving family by his side.

Raymond was born May 29, 1930 in Bluefield, WV. Growing up he trained and enjoyed working on his father’s dairy farm as well as delivering milk. During his life he also worked at Coles Bakery, United Dye Plant, and finally WV Armature.

Raymond was a member of Brushfork Baptist Church and more recently the First Baptist Church of Bluewell, WV. His hobbies included working on his farm and listening to gospel music.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert H. and Lettie Hall Dinger; sisters, Esther Dinger and Nana Dinger; brothers, Kyle, Ward, Arless and Fred Dinger. 

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Sarah; loving and devoted daughter and caregiver, Ronda Fay Dinger of the home; daughter, Sandra Cochran (Eddie) of Bluefield, WV; sons, Donald Dinger (Connie), Michael Dinger (Cindy), and Gerald (Jerry) Dinger, all of Bluefield, WV; sister, Ella Maye Dinger Proffitt of Pigeon Forge, TN; 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, August 9, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Bluewell, WV with family friend Donald Compton, Rev. Donald Dinger, and Pastor Jim Milam officiating.  Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery in Green Valley with Bill (Billy) Fletcher, Brian Cochrane, Kevin Cochrane, Christopher (Chris) Dinger, Joseph (Joe) Dinger, and Mark Smith serving as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 8, 2021 from 6-8 PM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home and one hour prior to service on Monday.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.cravens-shires.com.
