Rae’s life was marked by a love of learning and a deep commitment to education.

Rae Ann Cline, née Rebhun, passed away on August 24, 2026, following a short illness. She was born on July 23, 1955, and will be remembered as a woman of creativity, strength, and warmth whose presence left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Rae’s life was marked by a love of learning and a deep commitment to education. She graduated from Freeport High School in 1973, where in her senior year she led the marching band as the golden girl, an early reflection of the confidence and spirit that would remain with her throughout her life. She continued her education at Clarion University, graduating in 1978, where she was also a member of Phi Sigma Sigma sorority. Later, she earned her Master’s degree from Marshall University Graduate College in 2002, an accomplishment that stood among the achievements she held with special pride.

She devoted her professional life to teaching and guiding young people. Rae served as a teacher and cheerleading coach at Panther Elementary, taught at Gary Elementary, and later was a science teacher at Mt. View Middle School until her retirement. In each role, she brought intelligence, energy, and care, touching the lives of countless students and colleagues through her dedication and her engaging spirit.

Rae embraced life with enthusiasm and unmistakable style. She loved animals, gardening, and talking with people. She delighted in clothes, shoes, and jewelry, and found joy in sewing, music, musicals, theater, antiques, ancestry, shopping, baking, history, and decorating. She was creative, outgoing, compassionate, fiery, strong, independent, determined, loving, generous, witty, and always fully present in the moment. Those qualities shaped the way she moved through the world and made her someone others were naturally drawn to.

Above all, Rae cherished her family. Being the mother of two wonderful daughters was among her proudest accomplishments, and being “Mother and Nana” was a role she held close to her heart. Her love for her granddaughter brought her special happiness, and family remained at the center of her life.

She is survived by her beloved spouse, Alvin Cline; her daughters, Desiree' Cline Nowlin and Cameron Cline; her mother, Betty Rebhun; her sisters, Jennifer Kearns and her husband Michael, and Karen Maldonado; her granddaughter, Audrianna Nowlin; and her nephew, Daniel Maldonado and his wife, Sarahi Moyers. Each of them carries forward memories of Rae’s love, her humor, her strength, and the many ways she made life brighter.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Rebhun; her grandmothers, Martha Burtner and Mary Rebhun Huey; and her grandfathers, Fredrick Rebhun and Raymond Burtner.

Rae Ann Cline will be remembered for the energy she brought to every room, the care she gave so freely, and the pride she took in the people she loved. Her memory will live on in her family, in the many students whose lives she influenced, and in the countless small and beautiful things she enjoyed so deeply throughout her life.
