Phyllis Jean Casey (Gills), 62, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, August 10, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a daughter of the late Roscoe and Geraldine Martin Gills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Roger “Poochie” Gills, Michael Gills, Ronnie Gills, Darrell Gills, and David Gills; and sisters Joyce “Suzy” Hazlewood and Marie Irene Gills; and a beloved grandson, Jackson Matthew Dillow.
Throughout her journey Phyllis showed incredible strength, courage, and love. She will be remembered not for the illness that took her but for the beautiful life she lived and the countless lives she touched along the way. Phyllis worked many years in the Hotel industry and enjoyed her job. The light of her life was her grand babies and her favorite thing to do on weekends was hunt for treasures at yard sales with her sister Barbara. Phyllis would make you laugh like no other and always spoke her mind.
She is survived by 3 loving daughters and one loving son, Melissa Hart and Husband Jay, Jacqueline Meadows and husband Charlie, Billie Jean Casey, son, Ricky Dillow Jr; grandchildren, Ahvaya Raine, Saint Leron, Dakota Alexander & wife Elizabeth, Tayson Matthew, Braelynn Hart, Bella Kanode and husband, Stefano, Tyler Coy and wife, Abigail, Jayce Hart, Kimberly Taylor and husband, Andrew, and Brittany Parks; and several great grandchildren; in addition she is survived by her loyal loving fiancé, James Kemp; one sister, Barbara Neal and husband, Roger; 2 brothers Douglas Gills and wife, Debbie, and Delbert Gills; a special niece Reca Dillow
Funeral service will be conducted 7:00 PM Friday, August 14, 2026 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Rev. Ravin Fields and Rev. Jaycee Hart officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 PM until the time of service. In keeping with Phyllis' wishes, she will be cremated after the service.
