Rev. Paul Edward Baker, Sr., 84, of Boissevain, VA, went to be with his Heavenly Father Thursday, June 26, 2025 while at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born May 22, 1941 in Boissevain, VA, he was the son of the late James E. and Annie B. Davidson Baker. Paul was a veteran of the United States Army and had retired in 2001 from American Electric Power. One of Paul's greatest joys was following God's call to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and he did that without apology. Paul had a heart for people and wanted to see as many saved as possible. Paul lived out his call as a Baptist minister and had served various churches across the area. In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose Mary Breese Baker; his son, Paul Edward "Eddie" Baker, Jr.; and son-in-law, James Alan Sawyers.
Those left to cherish Paul's memory are his loving and devoted daughter, Pamela Sawyers of Boissevain, VA; sister, Judy "Sissy" Walker of Bluefield, VA; and a host of brothers and sisters in Christ who have been touched by Paul's life and ministry.
