Patricia Ann Handy

Patricia “Pat” Perdue Handy of Princeton, WV was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Pat passed away on May 16 2022, at the age of 83 surrounded by loved ones. 

She was born to Clinton Perdue and Barbara Harrell Perdue on August 29, 1938. After graduating from Bluefield High School, Pat married the love of her life, James “Paul” Handy and raised their children in Welch, WV. Pat and Paul were married sixty-three years. Besides her husband, she is survived by three children, Tammy Handy Womack, Jeffrey Handy (Wife Kimberly), and Michael Handy (Wife Carla); three grandchildren, Jacob Womack (Wife Sheila), Jonah Womack, and Brittany Handy Lippencott (Husband Russell); three great-grandchildren, James Womack, Teddy Womack and Tatum Lippencott; one sister, Betty Jo Perdue Ramey and many nieces and nephews.

During her life Pat was “mom” to all of her children’s friends, supporting them in school activities, sports, and church.   She was involved in the Boy Scouts of America for 20+ years and honored with the Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor a council can bestow on a volunteer. Recipients of this award are registered Scouters who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given. Pat was actively engaged in her faith and church her entire life serving on pastoral search committees, leading women of the church and serving as a representative to District, Council of Ministries, and other church organizations.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton Dewey Perdue and Barbara Ellen Harrell Perdue and brother Richard “Dick” Perdue (Wife Charlotte). 

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 23 in the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Pastor Gerald Roberts, Carr Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Funeral Home and Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service.
