Oney Mabel Cook Martin

December 27, 1937 - December 18, 2022

On Sunday Night, December 18, 2022 our Heavenly Father Called Another Angel Home.

Mabel was born on December 27, 1937 in Bramwell, West Virginia to the late Woodrow and Virginia Cook. Mabel graduated from Bramwell High School in 1955 and was a resident of Bramwell for many years. Mabel was married to Robert Ellis Martin Jr. on December 21, 1956. She was more than just a home maker to her family for many years. To her family, she was a doctor, a nurse, a teacher, a preacher, an inspiration, a friend, a comforter, and most of all she was our Momma. When God touched her, he knew he was giving a special gift of love and she would be loved by everyone who she met.

Mabel was preceded in death by her husband of over 59 years, Robert Ellis Martin Jr. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Virginia Cook, by four brothers: Giles, Billy, Johnny and Jesse Cook, by two sisters Betty Cook and Edna Keller and two infant sisters, Kitty and Janet Cook.

Left to cherish the loving memories of Mabel are three daughters: Sherry and husband Roy McClung of Camp Creek, Oney Martin of Princeton, Mary and husband Phillip Baugh of Princeton, Two sons: Ellis and wife Lisa Martin of Athens, and Timmy and wife Connie Martin of Bluewell. 10 Grandchildren, 25 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren, one brother Junior and wife Linda Cook of Florence,
AL, brother-in-law Joe and wife Betty Martin of Atlanta, GA. Sisters-in-law Linda Martin, Tracy Martin, Connie Cook and Joyce Cook, and many, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be held on December 21, 2022 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. There will be a private viewing for the family from 12:30 pm – 1:00 pm. Friends and family may pay respects from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm with a service starting at 2:00 pm with Pastor Barry Wright officiating.

Following the services, the family will honor their Momma’s wishes to be Cremated.
