Minnie Domineca Horton, 88 of Bluefield, WV passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026 while cradled in her son, Michael’s arms & surrounded by family & loved ones.
Minnie was born on December 07, 1937 to the late Tony Rose & Ruth Rose Claycomb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Edward Horton. Sister, Mary Keller. Brothers, Joseph Rose, Angelo “Abe” Rose & Tom Rose. Father & Mother-in-Law, Robert & Agnes Horton. Two Sister-in-Law’s, Dimple Williamson & Norma Stepps.
Minnie is survived by her three sons. Lee Horton & wife Cindy of Morgantown, WV, Larry Horton of Bluefield, WV & Michael Horton & wife Lisa of Bluefield, WV. Four grandsons, Adam Horton, Lee Horton III, Jacob Horton & wife, Destiny & Christian Horton. One granddaughter, Kelli Horton. One great granddaughter, Ellie Horton. In addition, Minnie is survived by three sisters. Jean Flock, Lois Kuhn & husband Dale, Rose Baird & husband Howard. One brother, James Claycomb & wife Marie. Sister-in-Law, Agnes Bell & a host of nieces & nephews.
Minnie will be remembered for being a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother, affectionately known as “Maw Maw” to those who cherished her. She was a devoted follower of Christ who served faithfully. Minnie was a homemaker for many years then later working for Maidenform, Aramark & Kroger. She spent many years hunting & fishing along with her husband & sons. Minnie especially enjoyed time spent with her grandkids, taking them to parades, festivals, baseball games & any other outdoor activities they would come upon. Minnie had a natural talent for gardening & flowers. She loved to sew & crochet. Cake decorating was another one of her many talents. She made everyone’s birthday special with a cake decorated just the way they wanted it. She was always willing to teach her crafts to anyone that wanted to learn.
Mike & Lisa extends heartfelt gratitude to Angela Underwood & Rebecca Davis for their unwavering kindness & support shown to Minnie. To Jacob & Christian, for their love & gentleness with Maw Maw which made a difference in all her days & was truly a remarkable example of devotion.
Special thanks to our Hospice nurse, Breanna Jones & Amedisys Hospice Cares entire staff for their kindness & compassion shown not just to Minnie but to all of us during this incredibly difficult time.
Funeral services to Celebrate the Life of Minnie will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 26, 2026 in the Chapel of Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Lacy officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 12:00 Noon. Those wishing to attend the burial are asked to meet at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home at 11:30 AM.
Serving as pall bearers are Lee Horton III, Jacob Horton, Christian Horton, Jeff Horton, Brett Carroll & Brennon Underwood.
