Michael Allen Smith

Michael Allen Smith, 72, of Princeton and formerly of Northfork, peacefully entered his new life on May 11, 2017.Born on February 23, 1945, he was a son of the late George H and Doris R. Smith. He was a graduate of Elkhorn High school where he graduated with high honors. After high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served 8 years. Michael worked at a variety of jobs during his lifetime, among them, he worked in the coal mines, welfare office, Dish Network, and as a deputy sheriff for McDowell County and as a long haul truck driver. In addition to his loving parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Stevie and Stewart Smith; and a granddaughter, Ahvonda Watterson. Left to cherish his loving memory are his:2 sons: Michael A. Smith and Terrence Cooper2 daughters: Tarsheima Watterson (Ahmad) and Michae’la Cooper. 3 grandchildren: Theresa Barkdale, Michael Shaw, and Ah’vaeh WattersonSister: Leslie Smith, with whom he residedBrothers: Clifford and Dennis SmithSpecial friends: Nanette Cooper and Yozetta CunninghamFuneral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Mt. Ebenezer Baptist Church in Algoma with Rev. Harold Calloway officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, prior to the services, from 12:00-1:00 PM at the church.
