Maudie Ella Williams

August 23, 1939 — February 27, 2024

Maudie “Ella” Williams entered into Heaven on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, with her daughter and two sons beside her. She had a 2 ½ year battle with multiple health issues. She never gave up, she was tough. A true fighter- always bouncing back, until the end.

Born August 23, 1939, in Cleveland, VA (Russell County) to her late parents, Omer and Mary Dotson. She attended Cleveland, VA schools. Ella was a member of Bluewell United Methodist Church in Bluewell, WV. She loved her church family and going to Sunday services and helping in the kitchen.

She was a homemaker but also worked at the Skyway in Bluewell and restaurant work in Lebanon, VA, where she met the love of her life, “Jr.”. She was a hard worker who never sat down. She loved her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Junior” Williams in 2007 and her first-born daughter, Sarah Gaye Williams in 2011.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Evelyn “Sis” “Katie” Williams and Carter; sons, Keith Williams and Edward Williams III; and adopted granddaughter/daughter, Kristy Latocha. She was most happy when her grandchildren came to visit, it made her light up. Carter Mitchem and Cade Williams, Makayla Latocha, and Megan Motley McCall. Sisters, Judy Dotson, Louise Surcey, and Norma Fields; many nieces and nephews, special nieces Linda Huffman and Brenda Meade; special friends she loved, and they helped during her sickness, Allie Lail, Amenah Lambert, Debbie Popp, Sandy Flangan, and Peggy Hollyfield.

Thanks to the great nurses at Bluefield Regional and Bluefield Rescue Squad for their kindness and loving her. Also, a thanks to the great nurses and staff at PCH Home Health Center and Home Health Compassus Jessica Craft and hospice nurses and staff.

Funeral services will be held, Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 11:30 AM, at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Pastor Sheri Kernik and Terry Keller officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA, with Mike Belcher, Edward Williams, Keith Williams, Mike King, Brian Sawyers, and Cade Williams serving as pallbearers.

Friends may call from 10:30 until the time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bluewell United Methodist Church at 228 Warden Ave. Bluefield, WV 24701.
