Lonnie Coy Dunn, Sr.

Lonnie Coy Dunn Sr, 76, of Bluefield WV passed away at home on April 25, 2026, after a lengthy battle with Parkinsons disease.

He was born on March 10, 1950, in Mercer County. He was the son of the late Coy Oscar and Laula Hodges Dunn. He spent most of his life in Montcalm WV before moving to Bluefield in his retirement years.

He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam war. After his military service he spent time working in the coal mines.

He enjoyed spending time with his family including visits from his kids, grandkids, sisters, and his nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by his sisters Betty Edwards, Naomi Reed, Janice Wyatt, and Phyllis Jennings, a brother Mac Wimmer, and a stepdaughter Juanita Clower.

Survivors include Wife: Connie Dunn, Daughters: Shelia (Bobby) Wilmer of Lakeland FL, Joni (Steve) Webb of Logan WV, Son: Lonnie (Terri Lynn) Dunn Jr of Beckley WV, Stepdaughter Maria (Charlie) Johnson of Rock WV. Grandchildren: Thomas (Danielle) Webb of Cleveland TN, Ryan (Carey) Webb of Cleveland TN, Jamey Wilmer of Lakeland FL, and Ashlyn Dunn of Beckley WV. Sisters: June Weiss of Bluefield WV, Linda Jennings of High Point NC, Wanda Harden of Thomasville NC, plus several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Craven-Shires Funeral Home Thursday, April 30th at 11 am with Rev Stephan Webb officiating. Visitation from 10-11am.

Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, Va where grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. The Mercer County Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites.
