Lewis Delano “L.D”. Eller, 83, of Montcalm, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at CAMC Teas Valley in Hurricane, WV.
Born on May 16, 1939, in Montcalm, he was a son of the late Cletus Terrell and Vicie Johnson Eller. He had been a lifelong resident of Mercer County and was a welder for The Daniels Company in Bluefield. He was of the Catholic faith.
L.D. was a man of many traits and an extremely hard worker all his life. He was one to volunteer to help his friends and that is when he was his happiest.
His neighbors Calvin Mills and Matthew Dillow were always there for him. If you saw L.D. out his “little buddy” Hershey, his dog, was by his side.
His grandson, Sonny Eller, was always learning from him and took care of him in his final months.
His passing was due to years of diabetes and heart problems. He passed away peacefully which is what he deserved.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Rizzute Eller, and brothers, Cletus Eller, Willard Spaulding and Billy Spaulding.
Survivors include his daughters, Iris Eller of Bluewell, WV, Lois Conley of Canton, GA, and Bernice Salah of Bluewell, WV; a son, Lewis “Butch” Eller, Jr. of Henderson, NV; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 7, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 1:00 PM with Father Sebastian Devasya officiating. Friends may call from 12:00-1:00 PM prior to service.
Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donation be made to the Mercer County Animal Shelter.
