Larry Joe Lyons, 77 of Lindside, WV previously of Suffolk, VA passed away Friday May 15, 2026, at Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg, VA following a long illness. Born February 5, 1949, in Bartley, WV he was a son of the late Charlie and Kathleen Steele Lyons.
Larry was a 1969 graduate of Big Creek High School in War, WV, he retired from Planters Peanuts in Suffolk, VA in 2011 after 41 years of service. He was a member of several gospel singing groups for almost 30 years both singing and playing the drums. After retirement he and wife Brenda moved to Monroe County and Larry would volunteer at the Monroe County Council on Aging for 7 years. Larry attended the Rock Camp Pentecostal Church. In addition to his parents Larry was preceded in death by three brothers; Charles, Mick and Bill Lyons.
Larry is survived by his wife of 56 years Brenda Lyons of Lindside, Brothers; Jim (Louise) Lyons of Newport News, VA and Coy (Ruby) Lyons of Raysal, WV. One sister Sissy Mullins of Suffolk, VA. Many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday May 18, 2026, at Summit Missionary Baptist Church in Paynesville, WV with Pastor Jerome Mullins and Pastor Steve Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Everett Mullins Cemetery in Paynesville. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
