Kester Everett Lane

Kester Everett Lane, Jr., 73, of Bramwell, WV passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026 at his home. Born August 1, 1953, he was the son of the late Kester Everett and Rosie Mae Duncan Lane, Sr. Kester was a faithful member of the Montcalm Church of God. He was always looking for ways to invite others to attend church and to begin a relationship with Jesus Christ. Kester was a lover of the outdoors. Most of all, he enjoyed riding his side by side on the Hatfield-McCoy Trail. He would offer his services to others to guide them and give them tours of the trail. Kester saw it as his part time job. It brought him great joy. Kester never met a stranger whether it was on the trail or in Walmart. He loved photographing the wildlife that visited his home from time to time such as deer, squirrels, racoons, birds, etc. One may even pass Kester in his beloved red truck going down the road videoing his adventures. In addition to his parents, Kester is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darlene Phipps Lane; a sister, Sheila Perry; and great-granddaughter, Olivia.

Those left to cherish Kester's memory are his son, Everett Lane and wife, Victoria of Bramwell, WV; daughter, Kristie Bonds and Carl Wade of Peterstown, WV; sisters, Rita Crewey of Falls Mills, VA, Vickie Sparks of Bramwell, WV, and Doris Parnell and husband, Joe of Bastian, VA; grandchildren, Carter Bonds and wife, Rebekah, Dustin Bonds, Breanna Pendergrass and husband, Frank, and Brandy Corner; 6  great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Doug Hyndrich officiating. Burial will follow at Belcher Mountain Cemetery in Welch, WV where family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
