Kenneth Lee Sawyers

Kenneth Lee Sawyers, Jr., 68, of Bluefield, VA passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born December 1, 1954 in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of Kenneth (Fudge) Sawyers and the late Betty Frances Sawyers Pietrantozzi. He graduated from Bluefield High School in 1973. Kenneth was a member of Lifeline/Princeton Church of God and worked for Kroger for 38 years in Bluefield, VA and WV. Kenny was an avid golfer and was a member of Wolf Creek and Fincastle. He was a man of few words but chose to let his life be his witness for his love of Christ.

Those left to cherish Kenny's memory are his wife, soulmate and childhood sweetheart, Carol Suzette Belcher Sawyers of the home. They would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary in September; father, Kenneth (Fudge) Sawyers, Sr. and wife, Tina of Radford, VA; children, Andy Sawyers and wife, Jillian of North Tazewell, VA, and Bethany Pettry and husband, Robert of Apex, NC; siblings, Faye Gunn and husband, Kenneth of Hillsville, VA, and Vic Sawyers and wife, Becky of Springville, VA; mother-in-law, Sue Belcher of Bluefield, WV; his five grandkids, Maddy, Jaxson, Lyla, Luke, and John were his best friends. He loved them so much and his world revolved around them; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Princeton Church of God with Pastor J.B. Hurt officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens where Sam Vance, Reggie Lambright, Sr., Mac Ruble, Connie Cline, Larry Synam, and George Ball will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tazewell Young Life Ministry, P.O. Box 172, Tazewell, VA 24651. This was a ministry close to Kenny’s heart that led by his son Andy and his wife Jill. He had a strong desire to spread the gospel to the youth.
