Katherine "Kat" Fay Marshall Dalton, 91, of Bluefield, WV, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, January 1, 2026. Born June 25, 1934, she was well-known as one of the “Marshall twins” of the late Sam and Dorothy Mabe Marshall of Rock/Montcalm, WV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister and closest friend, Annalene Oresta, a brother, Ray Marshall, and a granddaughter, Emily Beth Dalton.
Katherine met her husband Trubie Paul Dalton at Matoaka High School and were married on January 8, 1953. Kat and Paul would have celebrated their 73rd anniversary. On July 13, 1963, Kat, along with her twin sister, Ann and father, Sam, joined the Montcalm Primitive Baptist Church. She briefly worked at Maidenform but devoted most of her life to being a homemaker. She was known for her baking, cooking, and canning, with favorites including her macaroni and cheese, homemade pies and cakes. She was the ultimate homemaker and hostess ensuring that family and visitors always felt welcomed and fed.
Kat enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including sewing, quilting, gardening, sudoku, scrapbooking, and spending time with “the sisters”. Her twin, Ann, was her best friend living with or beside each other for most of their lives.
She is survived by her husband Paul, two sons, Steven and wife, Debbie of Blountville, Tn, Timothy and wife, Kimberly of Chester, Va, one daughter Teresa Marlowe and husband Todd of Roanoke, Va; 9 grandchildren, Hope Spencer (Jared) of NC, Benjamin Dalton (Maggie) of Tn, Stephanie Tucker (Joshua) of VA, Ashley Weisz (Adam) of Va, Steffan Frazier of Va, Zachery Dalton (Ashley) of Va, Kelly McDearmon (Adam) of Va, Kathryn Huff (Wade) of Va and Gunar Frazier of Va, and 13 great grandchildren, Luke Spencer, Jacob Spencer (Kathryn), Molly Spencer, Rowan Dalton, Emily Tucker, Callie Tucker, Davis Tucker, Madilynn Dalton, Dillyn Dalton, Hunter Dalton, Alyssa Skelton, Kameron Huff, and Karson Huff.
She is also survived by “the sisters” with a special bond; Brenda Wickline (Charles) of Peterstown, WV, Connie Kirby of Princeton, WV, Carla Shrewsbury (Marty) of Lashmeet, WV, and many special nieces and nephews.
Our family would like to thank the many caregivers and Glenwood HealthCare Center for the gentle care, kindness, and devotion that brought peace and comfort to Kat and our entire family over the last six months.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 12:30 PM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV with Elder Joe Miller officiating.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, WV, with Benjamin Dalton, Zachary Dalton, Luke Spencer, Jacob Spencer, Adam Weisz, and Adam McDearmon serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 12:30PM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the Dalton family.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made in honor of Katherine "Kat" Dalton to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org
