Judy Rotenberry Lambert

April 5, 1952 — August 9, 2023

Judy Rotenberry Lambert, 71, of Bluefield, West Virginia went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.  She was born in Welch, WV, on April 5, 1952 to the late Basil and Virgie (Cook) Rotenberry.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. After retiring from Keystone National Bank, she built her life around her children and grandchildren.  She resided on Burke Mountain, WV until moving to Bluefield in 1989.  Judy loved to read books and coupon, but most importantly, she enjoyed the role of being called Nanny as she was affectionately referred to by her grandchildren.  In keeping with her faith in the Lord to guide her, we are forever grateful for Judy’s testimony to a life well lived in her service to others as stated in 1 Timothy 5:10, “she must be attested for her good works, as one who brought up children, shown hospitality, washed the saints’ feet, helped the afflicted, and devoted to doing good in every way”.  She will be deeply missed for her humor, honesty, kind hearted and loving ways that she bestowed upon all who knew her because when nobody could or would, she did.  To know Judy was to love her for being a listening ear, giving heart, and steadfast friend, whose selfless nature and spunk was the brightest spot in any room.  The way in which she loved her family and lived her life will live on in the best parts of each one who was blessed to call her mother, grandmother, and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Roger Earl Lambert; three brothers, Joe, Mack and Jimmie Rotenberry; and two sisters, Ethel Formica and Sylvia Oster.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Steven (Melissa) Lambert of Bluefield, Bruce (Renee) Lambert of Bluefield, Lori (Dennis) Smith of Bluefield, and Jason (Leslie) Lambert of Princeton; grandchildren Meagan (CJ) Long of the home, Corey Lambert, Tanleigh Smith, Tyler Lambert, Trevor Smith, Zachary Lambert, Lauren Lambert, and Chloe Lambert; brothers Raymond Rotenberry of Burke Mountain,WV and Bobby Rotenberry of Cleveland, OH; sister Doris (Richard) Pawlack of Del Ray Beach, FL; sister in laws Barbara Taylor of Muncie, IN and Carol Lambert of Princeton; brother in laws George Oster of Bluefield and Joe (Rosie) Lambert of Chilhowie, VA, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with the Rev. David Lambert and Rev. Ralph Steele officiating the service.  Burial will follow at the Rotenberry Family Cemetery on Burke Mountain. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 PM.  Serving as pallbearers are loving sons and grandsons.
