Judy M. Lambert

July 23, 1943 — September 18, 2025

Bluefield, WV

Judith (Judy) McGuire Lambert, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend, of Bluefield, WV, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025.

Born on July 23, 1943, at Eglin Field in Florida, Judy was the cherished daughter of Jason and Mary McGuire, formerly of Bluefield, WV. She earned a B.S. in Education from West Virginia University, where she proudly served as a varsity cheerleader, and later completed a Master of Education at Radford University.

Judy found her life’s calling in education. For nearly three decades, she poured her heart into teaching at Bluefield High School. More than a teacher, Judy was a mentor, student advisor, coach, confidant, and friend. She taught Physical Education, Biology, and Health, but her true gift lay in making every student feel seen, heard, and valued. Her bright smile, heartfelt encouragement, and trademark hugs—freely and genuinely given—left a lasting mark. Long after they left her classroom, she continued to speak with pride and affection about her students.

A woman of unwavering faith, Judy was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Bluefield, WV, where she served faithfully as a Deacon, Elder, choir member, Sunday School teacher, and member of the Presbyterian Women of WV. Her devotion was evident not only in her official roles, but in the quiet, everyday ways she extended care—offering a ride, checking in with a kind word, welcoming newcomers, or simply sitting and listening with grace and compassion.

Deeply involved in her community, Judy cultivated dear friendships through service and the arts. She served on the Bluefield Fine Arts Commission, volunteered with the Bluefield Recreation Department, and was a founding member of the Summit Players Theatre. Whether on stage as a cast member or working behind the scenes as secretary, props manager, or technical director, Judy’s creative spirit and dedication were unmistakable.

Her greatest joy, however, came from her family and the simple pleasures of life. Oh, how she loved to talk about her grandchildren! And, she had a soft spot for her dogs—from her childhood companion Lassie to her more recent furry friends, Jazzy and Lacey. In her later years, Judy met the challenges of dementia with courage and grace. Even as her world became smaller, she found comfort in reminiscing about her friends, family, and the many adventures she had shared.

Always social and full of life, Judy will be remembered for her warmth, laughter, and contagious energy. The love she gave so generously will live on in her family, her friends, and the many students whose lives she touched.

Judy is survived by her children: Charles Keith, Jill Stamper (Todd), and Jason; her grandchildren: Kate and Eric; her brother Steve McGuire (Sue) of Knoxville, TN, and nieces Kristen, Heather, and Lauren; and her sister Barbara Frazier of Homosassa Springs, FL, and nephews Todd and Dallas.
