John Michael Sampson

John Michael Sampson, 31, of Check, VA, was tragically taken on Friday, April 7, 2023.

Born on January 6, 1992, in Camp Lejeune, NC, he was the son of Teresa Patterson the late William Sampson. John was a graduate of Floyd High School Class of 2010 and was self-employed working in the heat and air-conditioning business for 15 years. He was of the Baptist faith.

Those left to cherish John’s memory are his mother and stepfather, Teresa and Troy Wilson of Check, VA; sisters, Marina Sampson of Check, VA, Ashlyn Wilson of Max Meadows, VA, and Lindsay Sampson, of Shinston, WV; maternal grandparents, Roger Patterson of Bramwell, WV and Wanda Shrader of Falls Mills, VA; and paternal grandparents, Sherman and Tammy Shrader of Falls Mills, VA. He was also survived by the love of his life, Courtney Hall of Princeton, WV.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, WV with Rev. Dean Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where Patrick Sisk, Sean Plott, Jamie Dowdy, Buddy Wirt, Kevin Faulkner, and Mike Radford will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call one hour prior to services, from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
