John Russell Copley

John Russell Copley, 79, of Pinnacle View Road, Bluewell, WV, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born on May 10, 1943 in Iaeger, WV, he was a son of the late Harold and Ruth Powell Copley. He had been a resident of Bluewell since 1966. John worked for National Coil and Corte Construction. He also enjoyed woodworking. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Gail Steele Copley; a brother, Michael “Fred” Copley; a grandson, Philip John Copley; a great grandson, Christian Casey Copley; sisters in law, Mary Copley and Allilee Trent.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, David (Debbie) Copley of Bluefield, WV, Russell (Sue) Copley of Rural Retreat, VA, Timothy (Tracey) Copley of Bluefield, WV, Patrick (Rebecca) Copley of Bluefield, WV; brothers, Ron Copley of Bluefield, WV, Don (Angie) Copley of Woodbridge, VA, Tom (Minnie) Copley of Inez, KY; sisters, Sue Bowen of Rural Hall, NC, Margaret Carmella of East Brunswick, NJ, Barbara (Marion) Deskins of Sandy Huff, WV, and a sister in law, June Steele of Rutherfordton, NC; grandchildren, Christopher (Loucinda) Copley, Heath Copley, Casey (Amanda) Copley, Rachel Copley, , Zachary (Brandon) Copley-Anderson, Cody Copley, Kristin (Tanner) Beggs, Tyler Copley; Adam Copley and Amanda Shrader; great grandchildren, Makiyah Robinson, Cynthia Copley, Sofia Copley, Asher-John Copley, Clayton Beggs, Ethan Gilbert, Michael Gilbert, and Chase Gilbert; and great-great grandchildren, Kyloe Gilbert.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday July 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Brandon Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with Christopher Copley, Heath Copley, Casey Copley, Zachary Copley-Anderson, Cody Copley, Tyler Copley, Adam Copley, and Tanner Beggs will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call on Saturday prior to services, from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
