Jerry Eugene Perkins

Jerry Eugene Perkins Sr., 83, of Montcalm, West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

Born December 9, 1942, in McComas, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Woodrow and Mildred Perkins. Jerry attended McComas School and worked as a welder and construction worker. He was of the Church of God faith. Jerry was known for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need. He would give the shirt off his back without hesitation. He enjoyed spending his days visiting yard sales, birdwatching, and taking walks. Above all, Jerry loved his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he took great pride in the family he had built. He taught his loved ones the importance of kindness and always being there for family.

Jerry is survived by his special friend, Shirley Bailey; his children, Velissa Perkins, Jerry Perkins Jr. (Carrie), Patrick Perkins (Britany), and Monica Perkins (Dustin); his stepchildren, Jessica Hedges (James) and Steven Short (Michelle); his sister, Joyce Carver; his brother, Tony Perkins; his special grandson, Brycen Perkins; 17 other grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by Larry Perkins, Jimmy Perkins, Rose Mary Jimmerson, Christine Perkins, and Joseph Short.

Jerry will forever be remembered for his generous heart, his love for his family, and the countless lives he touched.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell.

Friends may call on Tuesday prior to services, from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
