Jerry Wayne Lindsey

July 31, 1950 — March 11, 2024

Jerry Wayne Lindsey Sr, 73, of Naylor, Georgia, passed away Monday March 11, 2024 at South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, Georgia. Born in Iaeger, West Virginia, he was the son of Mary Louise (Wright) Lindsey and the late Bernard Jack Lindsey of Bluefield, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie Lou (Slone) Lindsey.

Jerry entered military service with the United States Army shortly after graduating high school in Iaeger, West Virginia. He served 27 years and worked as a combat engineer, drill sergeant, recruiter, and career counselor. He also served in the Vietnam War and the Gulf War before retiring in 1995.

He loved to fish, ride motorcycles, play with his dogs, spend time with family, and talk to friends.

He is survived by his mother Mary Louise Lindsey, his son Jerry Lindsey Jr and wife Kimberly Lindsey from Naylor, Georgia, his son Jimmy Lindsey and wife Lisa Lindsey of Hinesville, Georgia, his brother Donald Lindsey of Bluefield, West Virginia, his brother Jackie Lindsey of Greensburg, Pennsylvania , and his sister Linda Lindsey of Bluefield, West Virginia. He has 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren as well.

Viewing service will be at Craven-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, West Virginia on March 19 between 6pm and 8pm with a funeral service at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home on March 20 at 11am. Doug Findley will be the minister presiding over the service. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell, West Virginia.

Military honors will be performed by Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.
