Jane Elizabeth Thompson

Jane Elizabeth Thompson joined her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Born in Bluefield on February 8, 1952, Janie was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a beautician by trade before becoming a Mother, loved to write poetry and songs and made the best biscuits. In faith, she bravely battled chronic illness for decades while never ceasing to be a loving, devoted and strong Mother who led her daughter to the love, safety and security of Jesus Christ. She had been a long-term resident of Wayne Healthcare Center in Wayne, WV since 2020 until her death.

She was preceded in death by her youngest granddaughter, Sofia Creed Hatten; her parents, Myrtle and Charles East; her beautiful sister, Kathryn Kessinger; her brothers, Michael East and Wayne East; beloved nieces Kelli, Brooke and Heather; beloved nephews, Greg and Deno.

Survived by her only child Jennifer Lanae Hatten; eldest granddaughter and pride of her heart Kathryn Jane Burns; loving son-in-law Sean Creed Hatten of Huntington, WV.; cherished siblings Judith Thompson; Ramona Morris (Jerry); James East (Carol), Johnny East (Lyne), Don East (Sheila), Gary East (Dawn), and many nieces and nephews whom she loved.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Pastor Mitch Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 10:45 AM until the time of service.

She leaves behind a daughter and granddaughter whose hearts will be forever grateful for her love, faith, courage and strength.
