James Earl Thomas

James Earl Thomas, 80, 289 Chicken Farm Rd Bluefield WV, passed away Friday October 16th at his home with his kids by his side. Born June 3rd 1946, in Landgraff WV, he was the son of the late Edward Thomas and Nellie Clark. He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Thomas(White), brothers; Robert Thomas, Joe Lewis Thomas, and Edward Thomas Jr. Sisters; Cherry Mae Clark, Ramona Simons, Jean Jones, and Mary Thomas. Sons; James Thomas and Joseph Thomas, and Great Grandson; Juse Thomas. Boo, as he was known by everybody, received his education in the Mcdowell County School System and was drafted into the United States Army. He served 2 tours in Vietnam and received the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, The National Defense Medal, 2 overseas bars, he was a qualified rifle sharpshooter. After military service, he was employed as a meter reader for the water company and a coal miner in Mcdowell County. He developed a love for horses at an early age and was seen quite often riding one with his friends, until he could no longer ride. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed the outdoors and open road. He was also a huge music lover, with his favorite artist being Gary Stewart, which is what he listened to almost daily, until his passing. He also enjoyed watching vampire and werewolf movies. Our Dad's love of horses was a huge part of who he was, and even though those days are gone, his spirit will forever ride, with every horses hoof that hits the ground. Left to carry on his memory are 3 Son's; Juan Thomas and wife Stacey of Bluefield, Delaney Thomas and wife Shawna of Princeton, and Shawn Thomas and wife Geneal, also of Princeton. 1 Daughter; Falena Thomas of the home, and the one who took great care of him in his final days. Grandchildren; Tiara Mabry and husband Ray, James Thomas and wife Kelly, La-Breya Thomas, Keiron Moorman, and Ryan and Olivia Vandevander, all of North Carolina. Julius Thomas and wife Kyra, Juan Thomas, Delaney Thomas Jr, Shawn Thomas Jr, Alexis Thomas, Brittney Thomas, Reed Thomas, Laziya Thomas, and Adrian Robinson all of Princeton. Tionna Thomas, Kiana Thomas, and Dominic King of Clarksville Tn. John Thomas of Columbus Ohio, Joseph Thomas of Bluefield, Seth Summers and wife Autumn of Mountain Home AR, Levi Thomas of Flippin AR, Bre'A Zipperian and husband Zack of Huntington, MSgt Samiyah Thomas stationed overseas with the U.S. Air Force, Alex Redman and wife Shahkila of Davenport FL. 1 Sibling; Loretta Whitfield(Thomas) and husband Jerome of Huntington WV. special nephew, Robert Younger and special niece, Debra Gravely. Step-grandchildren; Justin Blankenship and wife Haleigh of Peterstown, Madeline Martin and husband Timothy of Bluefield, and Harlee Blankenship of Princeton. 20 Great-grandchildren, 6 Step-grandchildren, and a huge host of niece's and nephew's. In honor of his wishes, he will be cremated after the service. The family will receive visitors from 2pm to 3pm, Saturday October 24th at the funeral home and the service will start immediately after at 3:00.
