James Douglas Cochran

James Douglas “Sonny” Cochran, 78, of Bluefield, WV, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born on February 19, 1944 in McComas, WV, he was a son of the late Henry James and Frances East Cochran. He had been a resident of Bluefield for 50 years and was a retired coal miner.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Phyllis Dennis; Roxanna Cochran and a brother, Thomas Cochran.

Survivors include his companion on 34 years, Sandra Brewster; sons, James Douglas Cochran, Jr. of Bluefield, WV, and Mack Douglas Cochran of Princeton, WV; daughters, Sherrie Drinnen of New Bern, NC; 8 grandchildren; Lewis, Brittney, Joshelyn, Shawn, Josie, Beth, Brianna and her pride and joy, Macie, 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Robert Cochran of Brushfork, WV, Jackie Cochran of Crumpler, WV, and Marvin Cochran of Bluefield, WV; sisters, Joyce Arrington of Norfolk, VA, Margaret Craig of Suwanee, GA, Virginia Blevins of Bluefield, WV, Sandra Rodriguez of Bluefield, WV, and Kay Cochran of Vero Beach, FL.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Jason Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8PM at the funeral home.
