Iva Lorene Beggs Grose

Iva Lorene Beggs Grose, 88, of Windmill Gap, WV, entered into God’s Kingdon June 13, 2023, at her home.

Born January 21, 1935, in Rock, WV, she was a daughter of the late William and Sebina Walker Beggs. Lorene was the 18th child and last surviving member of her immediate family. She lived her entire life on Windmill Gap, and while she enjoyed traveling, she preferred her tranquil mountain home. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and quilting with her sister, Virginia. When her health permitted, she enjoyed going to church, and once unable to attend, she enjoyed religious programs and gospel music. Lorene was a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Lorene was preceded in death by her son, Frankie Grose Sr., nine brothers, Ben, Charlie, Willie, Eugene, Francis, Vernie, Garland, Lewis, and Everett Beggs, and eight sisters, Eileen Anders, Katherine Eanes, Vacy Stanley, Virginia East, Violet Spicer, Versie Riley, and Dolly and Mary Beggs (infants).

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Bobby Grose of the home; son, Kevin Grose and wife Judy of Bluefield, WV; and daughter, Wanda Doss and husband Jerry of Rock, WV; four grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Her family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Ronald Billips, the entire staff of Amedisys Hospice for the loving care they have provided to us all, and Cravens-Shires Funeral Home for their service to her entire family throughout the years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 9:00 AM, Friday, June 16, 2023, at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin CT Lilly officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV, where Frankie Grose Jr., Brandon Grose, Joshua Hodges, Mark Beggs, Randy Beggs, and Jason Beggs will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 8:00 AM until the time of service.
