Irene Charney

Irene Toth Charney, age 95, of Welch, WV, died at her residence at Ridge Care Assisted Living in Princeton, WV after a brief illness on June 12, 2023, She is now reunited with the Love of Her Life, her husband Joe.

Born in Filbert, WV March 2, 1928. She was the daughter of Louis and Margaret Toth. She attended Elbert/Filbert Elementary School. Graduated Gary High School in 1946 and St. Mary's School of Nursing Huntington, WV in 1949. She moved from Filbert, WV to Welch, WV in 1994  where she resided up until the past few years.

She was employed at Grace Hospital in Welch, WV for several years. Most of her adult life she was a homemaker and devoted wife to her husband, Joe and a mother to her two sons, Michael Charney of Plano, TX and Chris Charney of Welch, WV. Also Surviving are her to two Granddaughters, Jessica Pertee and her husband Mike Pertee of Wilcoe, WV and Karissa Charney of Welch, WV.

She loved gardening and especially growing Dahlias. She loved walking and socializing with her friends at the Commission on Aging in Welch, WV.

In addition to her parents, Louis and Margaret Toth, she was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Las and her devoted husband, Joe.

She was a member of Our Lady of Victory alter society of Gary, WV.

Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 12:00 Noon at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with Father That Son officiating. Burial will follow with Chris Charney, Mike Pertee, Jimmy Joe Gianato, Adam Gianato, Darrell Jones, and Carmello Miano serving as pallbearers.

Friends may call prior to services, from 10:30-11:30 AM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Peters Catholic Church or the Thorpe Cemetery Upkeep Fund c/o Carmello Miano
